About the FDA

The fundamental cause of the Foundation for Democratic Advancement is to advance a people's democracy based in government of, by, and for the people. The FDA supports this cause internationally by auditing political candidates and parties, and the policies of political representatives.

Moreover, the FDA is committed to objectifying democracy and the election of political representatives to increase the likelihood that the better political representatives of the people are elected.

The Foundation for Democratic Advancement is guided by three principles:

1. Objectivity (of research and audits).

2. Transparency (of research, audits, and public input).

3. Non-partisanship.

The FDA has no affiliation with any political party or organization, or corporate/private interests.

The FDA is an active member of Volunteer Calgary (which aids Calgary based non-profit organizations with volunteer innitiatives).

Stephen Garvey (based in Canada), Chief Director of the FDA, has a BA in Political Science, MA in Environment Development, and internal auditing background. Also, he is an author of a number of works on political theory. Further, he is the originator of Evaluative Democracy, and founder of the Challenge the Philosophy Competitions and the Foundation for Democratic Advancement.

Ethan Canter (based in United Kingdom), marketing and fund raising coordinator for the FDA, has a BA and MA. Also, he is an author and artist with an active interest in film and speech.

Daniel Garvey (based in Canada), is a member of the FDA Board of Directors.

Liza Valentine (based in Canada), is a member of the FDA Board of Directors.

FDA Associates:

Dr. Arun Gadre (based in India), adviser for the FDA, has a MD. He is a gynaecologist, award winning author, and project officer for an International NGO, in Pune, India.
